The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barack Obama fostered some controversy this year. The Nobel Committee cited President Obama "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." It went on to say: "Only very rarely has a person to the same degree as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future." Many analysts say Mr. Obama's selection came as a complete surprise, since he has been in office less than a year. They also say it seems contradictory to give the coveted peace prize to a U.S. president who is sending an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan and is fighting a second war in Iraq. In his Oslo acceptance speech on 10 December, President Obama referred to the Nobel Committee's action. I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility. It is an award that speaks to our highest aspirations. And yet, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the considerable controversy that your generous decision has generated. In part, this is because I am at the beginning, and not the end, of my labors on the world stage. Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize - [Albert] Schweitzer and [Martin Luther] King; [George C.] Marshall and [Nelson] Mandela - my accomplishments are slight," he said.“获此殊荣,我身怀感激并深表谦恭。 InPrivate, a new privacy feature dubbed 'porn mode,' could jeopardize the advertising model of Web search engines. With just a few clicks you can now make sure the computer you're searching the web on has no trace of your activity. The feature known as "inprivate browsing" is part of the test version of Microsoft's newest browser, Internet Explorer 8. Bloggers have been critical inprivate the porn mode, since anyone using the computer afterwards should not be able to retrace a user's virtual steps. While it activated inprivate browsing, this'll appear here and that means that internet explorer would be prevented from saving any data about your browsing session.Internet Explorer 8 also introduces inprivate blocking. This alerts users when third party sides are tracking browsing activity; this is where google might be affected.Banner adser often display based on what google or yahoo think a user might be interested in depending on the sites visited.Blocking third parties from browsing activity could disrupt that business model. When people are in inprivate browsing and inprivate blocking, they will be given a list of companies that made aware of who else is seeing the conversation. They can then opt in or opt out, if having those people continue to provide and stream new information and data onto the websites.Microsoft controls around 70% of the browser market while Apple aly has the privacy feature and it can also be added to the popular Firefox 3 browser. A Google spokesman told CNN it's too early to tell how the Internet Explorer 8 features work and what their impact on the search giant might be.Microsoft says there're plenty of things inprivate browsing does not do.It does not necessarily make you anonymous on the web so the sites you visit can record your information. And if you're using a network at the office, your IT apartment can still see what you're up to while you surf on a company PC.Jim /, CNN London.200811/55623乌鲁木齐整形美容医院疤痕好吗今年将有6.3百万毕业生,然而,智力集中型职位少之又少,基层组织和中小企业的刺激机制还不够。 80% of grads to get jobs by DecemberThe Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, along with those of Education and Finance, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and the People's Bank of China have conference on finding jobs for this year's graduates. Data shows China will have 6.3 million graduates this year. But the number of talent-intensive posts is small. And the incentive to work in grass-root organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises isn't strong. So the Ministry of Finance is providing a 43.3-billion-yuan subsidy for graduates willing to work in the countryside. Li Xiangwei, Researcher, Ministry of HR Social Security, said, "For example, a college graduate will get 6 thousand yuan to compensate the tuition fee if he works in the countryside for a year. And he can get a total of 24 thousand yuan if he works for four years." The State Administration for Industry and Commerce says the administrative fees for registration and certificates are waived for graduates who set up a company. And a new regulation allows the graduate entrepreneurs to apply for the small secured loans. They used to have to register for unemployment to get the loans. Yin Weimin, Minister of HR Social Security, said, "We strive to achieve a 70 percent employment rate for the graduates by July and the rate is expected to hit 80 percent by the end of the year. And the unemployed graduates will receive free training." The employment and assistance plan calls for one career counseling session for each graduate, and internships for 350 thousand. 201004/101608The thing you have to understand about Jobs is that he was the worlds greatest control freak. He pushes his team to the edge and beyond. Invented by The Economist in 1986 as a lighthearted guide to whether currencies are at their “correct” level, it was never intended as a precise gauge of currency misalignment, merely a tool to make exchange-rate theory more digestible. Yet the Big Mac index has become a global standard, included in several economic textbooks and the subject of at least 20 academic studies. American politicians have even cited the index in their demands for a big appreciation of the Chinese yuan. With so many people taking the hamburger standard so seriously, it may be time to beef it up. Burgernomics is based on the theory of purchasing-power parity (PPP), the notion that in the long run exchange rates should move towards the rate that would equalise the prices of an identical basket of goods and services (in this case, a burger) in any two countries. The average price of a Big Mac in America is .07; in China it is only .27 at market exchange rates, 44% cheaper. In other words, the raw Big Mac index suggests that the yuan is undervalued by 44% against the dollar. In contrast, the currencies of Switzerland and Norway appear to be overvalued by around 100%. The euro (based on a weighted average of prices in member countries) is overvalued by 21% against the dollar; sterling is slightly undervalued; the Japanese yen seems to be spot-on. For the first time, we have included India in our survey. McDonald’s does not sell Big Macs there, so we have taken the price of a Maharaja Mac, made with chicken instead of beef. Meat accounts for less than 10% of a burger’s total cost, so this is unlikely to distort results hugely. It indicates that the rupee is 53% undervalued. 53%。201108/148617China leader on visit to JapanB:Chinese President Hu Jintao is set to begin a five-day state visit to Japan, the first such trip in a decadeThis Japanese company makes diggers. One in ten is sold to the Chinese. It expects its sales to China will grow 16-fold within 3 years, such is the pace of Chinese growth. But the boss says Beijing’s influence doesn’t end there. Countries that produce the resources China needs, like Russia, South Africa, Indonesia and Brazil are using the money they have made to invest in their own infrastructure. That helps to increase demand for our machines, so China’s economic growth is hugely important to them and to us. China became Japan’s largest trading partner last year, overtaking the ed States. Cheap Chinese-made goods have lowered prices in the shops here, boosting profits for the firms that sell them. But many in Japan worry that China’s exporting its problems too. Poisoned Chinese dumplings were blamed for a spate of illnesses recently. Look at these labels making clear where these herbs come from. In this case, Japan. And on this sign up here, reassuring people that none of the produce in this cabinet comes from China. Such is the level of concern about safety of Chinese-made products. Shoppers seem skeptical that enough is being done to protect them. The rowover dumplings is leading some people here to question Japan’s relationship with its powerful neighbor. China has been the superpower now, I think all the governments are afraid to offend them. But then, you know, you have to worry about domestic, you know, like voters that who has(have) to have their own concerns. So they have to play delicate juggling act. But nonetheless, you know, people’s health comes first. Could poisoned dumplings sour this relationship? It’s possible. Both countries' leaders pledged cooperation to find a corporate. But so far, little progress. Tibet is another difficult issue. China’s supporters were out in force when Japan hosted the Olympic torch, urging people here not to interfere. Hu Jintao’s visit is, was scheduled to be the final stage of improvement of the relationship which became worsened under the time of Koizumi. But we had trouble over the dumpling issue and then of course the Tibet issue. So these have posed us very new difficult challenges. There are problems, though, the shared history between the two countries presents difficulties that people in Japan and China are unwilling to put aside. To me, more difficulty lies in the perception of Chinese people over international order, and they still have a tendency to think the international order in a hierarchical terms, China top and followed by such countries. Chinese Prime Minister has described his own meetings with Japanese leaders as helping to break the ice. Now both sides will be hoping the president’s visit will ensure that thaw continues. Chris Hogg, B News, Tokyo. juggling act: a difficult situation in which you are trying to do several things at the same timethaw: To become warm enough for snow and ice to melt. The Barcelona midfielder collected a sliding pass from substitute Cesc Fabregas and shot the ball past Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg in the 116th minute of extra time. The Dutch tried to slow Spain's passing game with rough, physical play. English referee Howard Webb, a former policeman, showed eight yellow cards to Dutch players, and Dutch defender John Heitenga was sent off the field during extra time. But Spain received its share of yellow cards - five - making this what's being described as "the dirtiest" World Cup final in history.Spain is only the third team, after Germany and France, to be world and European champion at the same time. With the World Cup victory, Spain snapped the Netherlands' 25-match unbeaten streak. Dutch coach Bert Van Marwijk was gracious in defeat."They deserved to win; they were better," he said. "And in my opinion, Spain is the best team in the world for the last few years. I like the way they play, and it's a big challenge to play against Spain and beat them."
