Today is a big day! No, Squeaks, it#39;s not my birthday… But it is the day that I take the bandage off of my elbow! I was riding my bike the other day, and I had a little spill. Luckily, I wasn#39;t hurt too badly, but I did get a big cut on my elbow. So I cleaned out the cut with warm water and soap, and put on a bandage. But check it out! It#39;s only a week later, and the cut#39;s basically gone! That#39;s because my body—and yours—has a way to to make cuts and scrapes get all better, or heal. Even the ones that bleed. Blood travels through your body in what are called blood vessels. They#39;re kind of like straws or tubes. Most blood vessels are long and flexible, which means they#39;re able to bend. There are lots of really tiny blood vessels right under your skin. They can be thinner than a single hair! When you get a cut that bleeds,当你伤口流血时,you end up with a hole in your skin that#39;s deep enough to break some of those tiny blood vessels你的皮肤就会留个小洞,深到足以弄坏一些小血管。It doesn#39;t take long for your body to figure out that something#39;s wrong,用不了多久,你的身体就会不舒,and it starts to do something to stop the bleeding right away! Even though blood looks like it#39;s just one liquid, there are actually a few different ingredients in it. Like platelets, which look like little blobs. They#39;re way too small for you eye to see, but there are lots of platelets in your blood,它们太小了,小到看不见,但你的血液中却有很多。and they start to fill up the hole your cut made in the blood vessel. They act like a plug to stop any more blood from getting out. Your blood also makes a bunch of stringy fibers, which form a kind of a net, or web. The platelets stick to this web, and to each other, making a lump that completely covers the cut. After a while, the lump dries out and gets hard. We call this brown, hard lump of platelets and fibers a scab. That#39;s true! Squeakes. A scab is a little like a bandage that the body can grow all by itself! Under the scab, your body is hard at work,在痂下,你的身体在努力地工作,killing any germs that might have gotten inside of your body before the platelets plugged up the cut. Your body also fixes the holes in the blood vessels so that no more blood can leak out, and it starts to close the cut with new skin. As the new skin grows over the cut, the scab starts to get loose. Once enough of the hole is closed, the scab falls off, and you#39;re as good as new! Now, for the tough part. Even though it can be hard to do sometimes, leave your scabs alone! Don#39;t pick at them, pull them off, or even scratch them. Because the scab has an important job: it keeps germs that are outside of your body from getting inside of your body. If germs get inside of your body, they can cause an infection, which can make the cut hurt much worse. And if you pull a scab off, you might rip the skin that#39;s growing over the cut,如果你把痂撕掉,你可能撕的是正在覆盖伤口的皮肤。and your body would basically have to start all over again. After stopping the bleeding, making a scab, and growing new skin, it looks like my body#39;s all done fixing the cut I got. Hey, Squeaks, wanna go for a bike ride? Thanks for joining us at SciShow Kids! Do you have a question about your body, or anything else? Find a grownup and ask them to help you leave a comment below, or send an email to kids@scishow.com! Thanks, we#39;ll see you next time. You#39;re there for. Article/201706/514496武汉男科疾病需要多少费用 You work at the college library. You#39;re in the middle of a quiet afternoon when suddenly a shipment of 1,280 different books arrives. The books have been dropped of in one long straight line, but they#39;re all out of order,书被卸下来摆成长长一排而且顺序是混乱的and the automatic sorting system is broken. To make matters worse, classes start tomorrow,更糟糕的是 明天就开学了which means that first thing in the morning, students will show up in droves looking for these books. How can you get them all sorted in time? One way would be to start at one end of the line with the first pair of books. If the first two books are in order, then leave them as they are. Then, look at the second and third books, repeat the process,之后 看看第二本 第三本如此进行下去and continue until you reach the end of the line. At some point, you#39;ll come across the book that should be last,有时候 你可能会遇到应该排在最后的那本书and keep swapping it with every subsequent book,这就需要把它和随后的每一本书调换位置moving it down the line until it reaches the end where it belongs. Then, start from the beginning and repeat the process to get the second to last book in its proper place,然后从头开始 重复这一过程把第二本和剩下的书都依次合适地摆放and keep going until all books are sorted. This approach is called Bubble Sort. It#39;s simple but slow. You#39;d make 1,279 comparisons in the first round, then 1,278, and so on, adding up to 818,560 comparisons. If each took just one second, the process would take over nine days. A second strategy would be to start by sorting just the first two books. Then, take the third book and compare it with the book in the second spot. If it belongs before the second book, swap them,如果它应该排第二本前面 那就把它们调换一下then compare it with the book in the first spot, and swap again if needed. Now you#39;ve sorted the first three books. Keep adding one book at a time to the sorted sub-line,每次在排好的书列里加一本书comparing and swapping the new book with the one before it将这本新加入的书与其前一个对比 调换until it#39;s correctly placed among the books sorted so far. This is called Insertion Sort. Unlike Bubble Sort, it usually doesn#39;t require comparing every pair of books. On average, we#39;d expect to only need to compare each book to half of the books that came before it. In that case, the total number of comparisons would be 409,280, taking almost five days. You#39;re still doing way too many comparisons. Here#39;s a better idea. First, pick a random book. Call it the partition and compare it to every other book. Then, divide the line by placing all the books that come before the partition on its left然后将所有排在其前面的书放在它的左边and all the ones that come after it on its right. You#39;ve just saved loads of time by not having to compare any of the books on the left to any of the ones on the right ever again. Now, looking only at the books on the left, you can again pick a random partition book现在只看左边的书 然后你从里面再拿出一本书作为分割参照物and separate those books that come before it from those that come after it. You can keep creating sub-partitions like this until you have a bunch of small sub-lines,你可以一直这样创造作为分割线的书直到这排书变成了一群分开的更小排的书each of which you#39;d sort quickly using another strategy, like Insertion Sort. Each round of partitioning requires about 1,280 comparisons. If your partitions are pretty balanced,如果你设置的参照物位置很平均的话dividing the books into 128 sub-lines of ten would take about seven rounds,or 8,960 seconds. Sorting these sub-lines would add about 22 seconds each. All in all, this method known as QuickSort could sort the books in under three and a half hours. But there#39;s a catch. Your partitions could end up lopsided, saving no time at all. That#39;s why QuickSort is one of the most efficient strategies used by programmers today. They use it for things like sorting items in an online store by price,他们用这种方法将网店里需要以价格分类的商品进行归类or creating a list of all the gas stations close to a given location sorted by distance. In your case, you#39;re done quick sorting with time to spare. Just another high-stakes day in the library.在图书馆等待另一个高强度的一天吧 Article/201706/512664黄冈红安县男科医院在那儿
